Question: Would you say air is a living thing?

It really depends on how we define “life”. Most people would agree that to be alive you need to have characteristics like Lena listed. However, some people have argued that objects such as a sun could be classified as alive as it can grow, move, reproduce(?), metabolize, and evolve. That said, in my opinion air is probably not alive.
