Looking at how air affects the steering and maneuverability of vehicles such as hovercraft, floating cars would be horrendously dangerous. The only reason I can think for making one is so that it can drive above other cars effectively making new lanes so that traffic moves faster. Unfortunately the science community does not consider this project worthy of the resources it would take to build a single floating car let alone on for everyone. It should be noted that flying over roads would require very different engineering than an airplane and helicopter blades would certainly not be welcome in an urban environment.

they have already created cars that fly, but they are too noisy, polluting, expensive and dangerous to be sold(“how loud can you burp” by the science museum). Also, it’s hard to paint road lines in the sky!
