Stomach bugs are caused by either a bacteria or a virus that gets into your gut that isn’t normally. They disrupt the balance in your gut by multiplying and producing toxins. Your body then expels the bugs and their toxins by the process of diarrhoea and vomiting (not nice). Most stomach bugs only last for a few days to a week and aren’t dangerous as long as you drink plenty of fluids.

Some stomach bugs are caused by foreign bacteria. I noticed when I was traveling overseas, that drinking the water that all the locals could drink would make me sick. This is because their guts had adapted to the bacteria, while mine wasn’t used to the same sort of bacteria.
