• Question: why do i look more like my dad's side of the family than my mum's

      Some people look more like one than the other but you’ll notice that your family will disagree on who you look like. Matching your looks to one parent is all in your mind and when one person recognises a similar nose to your mum another may recognise similar ears to your dad! It is an opinion which is why it is hard to measure.

      You share genes from both your mum and dad. Some genes are called dominant and others recessive. This means that even if you have one gene from your dad (which is dominant) and one from your mum (which is recessive) instead of being half and half, you dads gene will have more influence.
