• Question: what was the hardest thing about becoming a scientist?

      I’d say that dealing with exams year after year after year! Now I am a qualified scientist I don’t have to do them any more!

      Exams were probably my hardest thing too, but passing them was hugely satisfying

      I think the hardest thing is that we while we try so many methods and variations of our experiments, quite often they don’t work out. Sometimes we work for many months to make an experiment work. Once we are finally successful we can look back and know that it was worth the effort, but during the trial and error it is hard to stay positive.

      For me, the hardest thing was keeping motivated when some of my experiments weren’t working while I was going my PhD. I persevered though, and now I’m Dr Lena. 😉
