• Question: Is amniotic fluid just water, or what other chemicals is it made up from and why?

      Good question. The amniotic fluid is also contains proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and phospholipids, and urea, all of which aid in the growth of the fetus. One of the projects I work on involves isolating stem cells from the amniotic fluid. Using these stem cells we can generate any cell in the body for future treatments.

      Good answer Sean. Amniotic fluid is quite amazing. Medicines are very good at building up in the fluid & fetus which is why pregnant women must avoid them.
