We have genes for eye color….These genes produce three colours…. : brown, yellow, and blue. Now its the proportion of these colours in your eye that determines the overall appearance of your eye….Green eyes, for example, have blue and some yellow. Brown eyes contain mostly brown…Now you can do a simple experiment using coloured makers…..you can combine brown, yellow and blue colour in different proportions to get a hazel colour……and thats how you can explain how much of each colour is there in your eye to make it look hazel….

Hazel eyes are quite special because their color results from both genetics as well an effect called Rayleigh scattering. This scattering of light from your eyes can result in your hazel eyes to look from brown to green and everything in between. Sometimes different parts of your eye can look different colors.

My eyes look different colours at different times. Eyes are amazing, apparently they are the only bit of you that doesn’t change size as you get older.

Well, I’ve learned something new from my fellow scientists. I’m hazel eyed, too. It’s nice to be special.
