Question: How would you control the knock on effects, if genetically modified fish were released into the wild?

Hiya. This is a great question. And unfortunately, the answer is that we couldn’t contain it. You can’t really round up fish.
Some rivers around the world are really polluted, so much so that the chemicals in the water have resulted in the male fish turning a bit female. These fish have not been genetically modified on purpose but they chemicals have caused changes to their development.

Is it possible for the chemicals to make mammals turn a little female or is it just fish?

I think there is some evidence that men’s sperm counts are lower because of traces of the hormones used in the contraceptive pill being in the water. Scary!
