Question: Hey Viv, I saw that you work in crime and i was wondering if it's the same process as you see on telly programmes like "whitechapel". Also have you ever had to appear in court? From Emily

  Congratulations, that is my first question and it is an absolute cracker. With regard to television programmes please remember that they are fiction and dramas want to be as exciting as possible. I’ve never watched Whitechapel but I know some others use science that is based around reality but speed things up to make them look more dramatic. One program (I won’t mention any names) used superglue to make fingerprints visible which is done in reality however not as fast. Also the techniques can appear to be far more accurate than they normally are.
  I have never appeared in court.
