I do enjoy the scientific parts of it but all jobs involve an amount of bureaucracy and dealing with irritations that are far less enjoyable. I’m probably very lucky in that I do enjoy a fairly significant proportion of it.
I feel really lucky to be able to do what I do. My days are quite varied so I don’t get bored – I do some experiments, a bit of reading, a bit of writing, a bit of supervising and some teaching. I also get to travel quite a bit to present my work. There are, of course, times when I get a bit bored or when things aren’t going my way but that’s the same with any job.
