      Yes, there are actually 30 synthetic elements that have been synthesized using a method like this. Of all the synthetic elements, plutonium, first synthesized in 1940, is the one best known. Creating these elements involve use of nuclear reactors or particle accelerators, via nuclear fusion or neutron absorption.

      Ununseptium (atomic number 117) is the latest element to be synthesised. This was done in Russia in 2009. It was made by fusion resulting from the pelting of Berkelium with Calcium ions.
