• Question: Can someone explain adequately the meaning of infinite space?

      We all understand what infinity means theoretically. But I think it’s a difficult concept for us to get our heads around because most things around us are not infinite and we ourselves are finite beings. I certainly can’t imagine infinity (it makes my brain hurt) but I understand what it means.

      I suspect you’ll find that explanation inadequate…

      My brain also explodes when I think too much about this but a very non-mathematical definition is: No matter how far you travel in any direction there is still further to go.

      I think infinity is a difficult concept when you try and apply it to the real world. Try this: stand on the other side of the room. Next, move halfway between where you are and the wall on the other side. Then move half way of the remaining distance. Repeat this as many times as you want. The number of times it will take you to reach the wall is infinity (unless you cheat!).
