At the moment very large burns and wounds are not treatable. This is because current treatments involve taking a section of uninjured skin, and trying to make it cover the wounded area. You can see how this becomes a problem if you are injured on more than 50% of your skin. Our bioprinter can cover a much larger area of injured skin, using a much smaller skin biopsy. We think we should be able to cover very large (more than 50%) wounds quickly to help people recover from their injuries.
