There are all sorts of claims out there about the stress busting properties of various foods. Generally, it seems that foods that are right in vitamins B, E, C and A are good for beating stress. So for vitamin B go for beans and other pulses, beef and tuna; for vitamins C and A go for orange and yellow coloured fruit and veg; and for vitamin E go for almonds and sunflower seeds. Ultimately, if you eat a diet that gives you energy and good nutrition you are better equipped to cope with stress.

I generally get the urge to eat chocolate when I’m stressed… Should probably switch to a nice banana instead. 😉

I agree with Lena, there are probably all sorts of really good foods that I should eat to relieve stress but I always fall back onto chocolate. Ultimately, I would have thought it would be whatever does it for you.

Stress can cause cardiovascular problems, especially in older people. So eating good “heart” foods such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes, nuts, fatty fish, and teas should help keep you healthy and hopefully stress free.
