Question: How much blood can a human lose before dying of blood loss?
blood, cardiovascular, death, human

We have about 5 litres of blood in our bodies. If you lose any more than about 2 litres (like a big bottle of Coke), you’re in big trouble.

40% or greater is usually considered the maximum amount of blood that an adult can loose before the body can no longer compensate. In an 80 kg adult this would be about 2.24 liters.

It would depend on the person; their size determines how much blood they have and how much they need so it does vary between people.

Sorry – I should have given a percentage. Anything over 40 % of your total volume of blood is very bad indeed.
